AI Contract Overview
The 502d Contracting Squadron at Joint Base San Antonio-Randolph is conducting market research to identify capable sources for manufacturing and delivering finished metal name tags for Basic Military Training Service Dress Uniforms used by the U.S. Air Force and U.S. Space Force. These name tags are required for approximately 40,500 Active, Guard, Reserve trainees, and prior service personnel annually at JBSA-Lackland, with the U.S. Space Force approving tags for about 930 trainees each year. The tags differ slightly: USAF tags bear the last name only, while USSF tags display a two-line format with the first or middle name on the first line and the last name on the second. Each trainee receives one metal name tag specific to their service branch. The solicitation follows NAICS code 332999 for miscellaneous fabricated metal product manufacturing, with a small business size standard of 750 employees. Respondents must be prepared to provide all necessary personnel, materials, and equipment to meet stringent quality and delivery requirements, which include delivering the tags within 14 calendar days of order receipt. This announcement is a sources sought notice, not a solicitation, intended to gauge market interest and capability and will inform whether a future solicitation will be issued as a small business set-aside or a full competition. Interested parties are encouraged to submit the attached market survey questionnaire by June 15, 2026. Future solicitations will require submission of sample name tags and may include mandatory continuity of operations plans for supplying tags during government funding lapses.
