AI Contract Overview

The Beaver-Long Draw Integrated Resource Stewardship Contract (IRSC) involves commercial harvesting and forest management activities across two project areas on the Black Mesa Ranger District in Arizona, covering approximately 6,744 acres combined. The contract includes removal of live conifer species such as Ponderosa pine, Douglas-fir, Southwestern white pine, and white fir, with ground-based harvest operations on slopes typically less than 35%. The project also encompasses road maintenance for haul routes and must consider timing restrictions to protect the Mexican Spotted Owl from March through August. Estimated timber volumes approach over 10,000 CCF of sawtimber and additional non-saw and biomass materials across both project areas. The period of performance extends through December 31, 2029, with opportunities for vendors to engage in subsidized removal of surplus forest products. Amendments to the presolicitation process include the rescheduling of the site visit to November 15, 2023, at the Black Mesa Ranger District office in Overgaard, AZ, after the initial October 24 date was canceled. Draft solicitation documents are now available for review to allow prospective contractors to familiarize themselves with contract requirements, though these documents remain preliminary and subject to change. The contract is conducted under the Stewardship Authority, allowing full and open competition under NAICS code 115310 for forestry support services, and is managed by the USDA Forest Service Stewardship Contracting Branch. Interested parties should direct questions to the designated acquisition officer and monitor federal procurement platforms for ongoing updates.
