ACTION CODE: Pre-solicitation North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code: 511210 SUBJECT: Purchase 1 year maintenance on BMS/TS 8.1.0 software. Reference Number: SSA-RFQ-09-1005 RESPONSE DATE: July 29, 2008 CONTACT POINTS: Gregg Wizar, Contract Specialist, 410-965-9542; Kathy Spangler 410-966-0392 DESCRIPTION: The Social Security Administration intends to negotiate solely with GT Software Corporation, 235 Peachtree St NE, Suite 1400 Atlanta Georgia 30303-1402 under the authority of Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Subpart 13.106-1(b) - Soliciting from a Single Source to purchase the renewal of maintenance on the BMS/TS 8.1.0 software. BMS/TS 8.1.0 software is used as a map generator tool to develop all of the CICS screen maps for mission critical application software systems. It is used to design and test screens or large application systems that are released to other offices. We must renew with GT Software because they are the only provider of this software as well as the maintenance of it. It is the only vendor who can provide SSA with the software keys necessary to continue to use the software. GT Software has no authorized resellers of this product, or installation services. The anticipated Contract Line Items are as follows: Line Item 001 - Maintenance on BMS/TS 8.1.0 Software that resides on System 81. Line Item 002 - Maintenance on BMS/TS 8.1.0 OS/390 Software that resides on System 83. GT Software is the only authorized dealer of this software and its maintenance known to the Government. The Government anticipates the award of a firm-fixed price purchase order. Written responses to this synopsis shall contain sufficient documentation to establish a bonafide capability to fulfill this requirement. A solicitation is NOT available. Therefore, written and/or verbal requests for copies of a solicitation related to this announcement will not be honored. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed order based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
