Broadway Street and Sargent Street Water Pipeline Replacement

The City of Gilroy is forecasting a public works project to replace aging water infrastructure on Broadway Street and Sargent Street in Gilroy, California. The scope of work involves the removal and abandonment of approximately 370 feet of six-inch pipeline on Broadway Street and the abandonment of a four-inch pipeline on Sargent Street. In their place, the project will install approximately 1,510 feet of new eight-inch ductile iron pipeline using open trench methods, with 1,300 feet located between Wayland Lane and Hanna Street and 210 feet located between Broadway Street and First Street. The project is managed by Utilities Director Heath McMahon and is classified as a ministerial action exempt from the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) because the pipeline replacements are under one mile in length. Environmental filings and associated fees were processed through the Santa Clara County Clerk-Recorder's Office in July 2025. While the project is currently listed as a forecast with a posted date of July 30, 2025, no formal contract value, specific performance period, or federal acquisition regulation clauses have been established. All work is to be performed within the public right-of-way in accordance with current construction codes and municipal standards.
