The Cheyenne VA Medical Center is seeking a professional architect and engineering firm for the Combined Heat and Power Phase 1 project. The selected firm will be responsible for assessing and designing a combined heat and power unit, which includes investigating renewable fuel sources like biomass, recommending heat and electrical tie-ins, and preparing detailed engineering reports. The scope of work primarily involves mechanical and electrical design, including the creation of specifications and drawings that allow general contractors to provide accurate proposals. Because the facility is historic and must remain fully operational, the firm must coordinate with the state historical society and provide a detailed sequence of work to minimize construction impact. This project is a total set-aside for Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Businesses (SDVOSB). The design must target a construction cost range between 500,000 and 1,000,000 dollars, with specific suggested work remaining under 650,000 dollars. Deliverables include an initial estimate, preliminary design, 50 percent design, and 95 percent design submissions, with final documents provided in AutoCAD and Microsoft Word formats. Project management and scheduling must be handled using Microsoft Project to ensure regular tracking by the medical center.
