The Cabin Creek Biomass Facility Project, identified by project number PLN25-00298, is located at the Eastern Regional Materials Recovery Facility and Transfer Station at 900 Cabin Creek Road in Truckee, California. Managed by Placer County, the project focuses on the conversion of sustainably sourced woody biomass into biochar using a thermal conversion pyrolysis process. This operation utilizes modular, transportable kilns, each with a 10 cubic yard capacity, designed to produce biochar with no visible emissions and minimal particulate and volatile organic compound emissions.
