The Euismod Energy Storage Project, managed by Euismod Project LLC and Euismod Project I, LLC under solicitation PLN25-00046, involves the development of a battery energy storage system (BESS) facility in southeastern Kern County, California. The project will utilize lithium-ion batteries to store approximately 1,150 megawatts (MW) or 9,200 megawatt-hours (MWh) of electricity from the regional grid on a 120-acre site. Infrastructure includes battery energy storage arrays, collector substations, SCADA systems, microwave communications towers, O&M buildings, and SCE tie-line and substation infrastructure. The project requires several land-use entitlements from the Kern County Planning and Natural Resources Department, including a Zone Change Case, Conditional Use Permits, Zone Variance, and Nonsummary Street Vacations. The project is subject to rigorous environmental and safety standards, including compliance with the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), OSHA standards, and NFPA 70E for electrical work. Key operational requirements include the implementation of a Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) and adherence to NFPA 72 for fire alarm system testing. Construction is expected to employ approximately 150 onsite workers utilizing union labor with wages meeting or exceeding IRS prevailing wage standards.
