CALMADE: California Manufacturing for Activated Dry Electrode

LiCAP Technologies, Inc. is set to retrofit a vacant facility in Sacramento, California, to establish a commercial-scale manufacturing line capable of producing 500 MWh of Activated Dry Electrode® technology, a proprietary solvent-free method for manufacturing lithium-ion battery electrodes. This initiative, branded as CALMADE, aims to enhance domestic battery supply chain security by reducing reliance on foreign components and enabling cleaner, more sustainable battery production. The project is expected to generate new clean energy jobs and support California's broader goals for renewable energy infrastructure and industrial innovation. The effort is coordinated through the California Energy Commission, with primary point of contact Taiying Zhang, Air Pollution Specialist, overseeing the initiative under the UI link provided for regulatory tracking.
