2026 Volunteer Fire Capacity Grant
Solicitation # 2139681
The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation is administering the 2026 Volunteer Fire Capacity Grant Program, funded by a federal appropriation of 857,629 dollars. This program provides matching grants to eligible rural fire departments for the purchase of wildland firefighting suppression supplies. To be eligible, departments must be comprised of at least 80 percent volunteer personnel and serve a rural area, defined as a town or village with a population of 10,000 or less based on the 2020 Census. Selected departments can receive a maximum award of 3,500 dollars, which must be matched 50/50 by the recipient. Grant funds must be used for items directly related to wildland firefighting that benefit the local rural community, with a restriction that no individual item exceeds 9,999 dollars. Selection is based on the department's funding history over the previous five years, whether it is a newly formed establishment, and the presence of a Native American community within its jurisdiction. The program operates under federal guidelines from the US Forest Service and the Cooperative Forestry Assistance Act of 1978. Applications are accepted through December 30, 2026. This solicitation does not have specific goals for Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned, Minority, Women, or Disadvantaged Business Enterprises. All inquiries and applications are managed by the Volunteer Fire Capacity Grant Coordinator within the Division of Forest Protection.

Laramie County Community College is seeking a qualified consultant to provide comprehensive design services for the reconfiguration of fire suppression systems across twelve campus buildings. The project aims to modify existing sprinkler systems originally designed for a 150-psi static pressure to operate effectively at an 80-psi static pressure. The redesign may involve installing fire pumps or enlarging piping to ensure proper system functionality within the new pressure parameters. The scope includes not only fire protection system design but also the integration of architectural, mechanical, plumbing, electrical, and fire alarm components necessary for complete bidding and permitting packages. Importantly, the project must adhere to funding restrictions that prohibit any increase in the overall building or campus square footage. The project schedule has been adjusted due to weather, with a mandatory pre-meeting scheduled for January 14, 2025, and other deadlines remaining unchanged. The contract is valued between $500,000 and $1,500,000, and the solicitation was posted on December 17, 2024, with responses due by January 24, 2025.

Full Description

Laramie County Community College (LCCC) seeks a qualified consultant for design services focused on re-designing existing fire suppression systems (sprinkler systems) for twelve (12) campus buildings. The current systems were designed with a 150-psi incoming static pressure. The new design will accommodate for an 80-psi incoming static pressure. The new design will focus on either adding fire pumps or increasing piping sizes in the various buildings to allow for a functioning fire suppression system to operate at the static pressure of 80-psi in each building. An initial investigation was conducted and will be attached. In addition to the fire protection systems design, proposals shall include architectural, mechanical, plumbing, electrical and fire alarm design necessary for complete bidding and permitting packages. Note: the funding source for the project stipulates that this project shall not result in additional square footage to the buildings/campus. Project Schedule UPDATE: Due to weather conditions, the MANDATORY PRE-MEETING has been moved to January 14, 2025 at 3:00pm in Plant Operations (PO- Room 106) . All other project dates remain the same
