The purpose of this Invitation for Bids is to seek competitive sealed bids from qualified vendors to establish an Agency Specific Term Contract to provide training for offenders within NCDAC Facilities to obtain Class A CDL License prior to release on an “as needed” basis if and when requested by the NC Department of Adult Correction during the contract period. Classes will be offered to offenders scheduled to be released within 12 months. This initiative will address the need for higher wages for former offenders and the need for truck drivers in the private sector and potential state jobs. This will start off being facilitated through Wake Correctional Center and North Carolina Correctional Institution for Women (NCCIW) and then expanded to other parts of the state once the pilot program has been completed. Correction Enterprises is a Division within the Department of Adult Correction. Correction Enterprises is responsible for marketable job skills for offenders prior to release by placing them in a real work environment in our plants. Correction Enterprises has 28 plants across the state that provide goods and services to the citizens of North Carolina at a discounted rate. Correction Enterprises sells to any state agency, public schools, universities, current and former state employees. Currently incarcerated individuals work in all our plants and receive necessary skills to reenter society
