Chilled Water Plant Installation Building 30, Patton State Hospital

The project involves replacing the existing roof-mounted water-cooled chillers at Building 30 of Patton State Hospital with two new 250-ton air-cooled chillers mounted on a concrete slab, improving efficiency and reducing maintenance complexity. A new 1,550-square-foot metal building will be constructed to house the chilled water pumps and associated equipment, with new hydronic piping installed to integrate seamlessly with the existing chilled water system. The site will undergo significant upgrades including a new Concrete Masonry Unit block wall surrounding the building, graded and sloped ground surfaces for proper drainage, and installation of underground chilled water supply and return lines. Additional site work includes connecting new domestic water and sewer lines to existing infrastructure, adding a dedicated power supply with a new electric transformer, laying new concrete paving, and replacing existing asphalt surfaces to accommodate the upgraded infrastructure and ensure safety and accessibility. All work is being coordinated under the California State Hospitals, Department of, with the project publicly forecasted on September 16, 2025, and managed by the Office of the Chief Construction Officer.
