City of Chico Vegetative Fuels Management Plan

The California Department of Fish and Wildlife has executed a Streambed Alteration Agreement for Routine Maintenance Activities, identified by EPIMS Notification Numbers BUT-40867-R2 and BUT-40869-R2, with the City of Chico. Pursuant to section 1602 of the Fish and Game Code, this agreement authorizes the City of Chico, represented by Skyler Lipski, to perform essential maintenance across 10 square miles within the city boundaries in Butte County, California. The scope of work includes the removal of debris, obstructions, and sediment, as well as vegetation control in channels, fuel reduction, and vegetation management. Additionally, the agreement covers the repair of existing erosion control, temporary water diversion, channel maintenance, bridge inspections, and trail crossing maintenance. The authorized activities are centered around several key watercourses and infrastructure, including Big Chico Creek, Little Chico Creek, Lindo Channel, Comanche Creek, Mud/Sycamore Creek, the Butte Creek Diversion Channel, and South Deadhorse Slough, along with their tributaries. The agreement also extends to the Teichert Ponds, which serve as detention basins hydrologically connected to Little Chico Creek. The California Department of Fish and Wildlife, acting as the Responsible Agency, has determined that the project will not have a significant environmental effect within its jurisdiction, based on the lead agency's environmental impact report and the implementation of required mitigation measures.
