The contract involves extensive construction and rehabilitation work at the Clarence Cannon Wildlife Refuge, focusing primarily on water control structures and berm modifications. The work includes the demolition and replacement of six reinforced concrete water control structures, with excavation and foundation preparation to support multi-cell box culverts, headwalls, wing walls, and slabs. In addition, the contract calls for construction of a large cast-in-place reinforced concrete water control structure equipped with a welded steel overshot gate and a bridge crossing. This portion involves detailed foundation work, installation of sheet piling walls for levee embankment retention and seepage cutoff, and the construction of a soil-founded U-frame structure. The project also covers the fabrication and installation of gate mechanisms, guardrails, compacted embankment, stone surfacing, rip rap protection, and articulated concrete block mattresses. Channel realignment and embankment work for improved access and drainage are also included.
