AI Contract Overview
The contract involves providing engineering services for the upgrade of the Clifty and 8th Street Lift Stations for Columbus City Utilities in Indiana. The project aims to develop preliminary designs, including a summary of the upgrade plans, followed by detailed construction drawings and specifications. The Clifty Lift Station, which handles flow from a large gravity sewer area and three remote lift stations, is being upgraded to increase capacity, with potential growth areas identified within its basin. The 8th Street Lift Station, serving a rapidly growing residential area and an industrial user from Driftwood Utilities, also requires upgrades to meet regional standards. Key design tasks include reviewing existing flow data, assessing growth projections, recommending pump sizing, and identifying electrical upgrades. After the preliminary design phase, the project will proceed to detailed design, contractor procurement, and construction, with funding anticipated through bonds and state or private loans. The project schedule targets selection of the engineering firm by February 20, 2025, with construction expected to start in December 2025. Responses to the Request for Qualifications must be submitted electronically via Ion Wave Technologies by January 31, 2025, and should be limited to eight pages plus a cover sheet. The selection process will evaluate submissions based on project understanding and approach, team qualifications and experience, and innovation and responsiveness, with a total of 100 points available. The selected engineering firm will be responsible for delivering comprehensive design services, including preliminary and detailed plans, specifications, and contractor assistance, to ensure the successful upgrade of these regional lift stations to meet current and future demands.

Project Description and Scope of Services:
The project consists of the preparation of a preliminary design summary for the upgrade of the 8th Street and Clifty lift stations followed by the development of construction drawings and specifications. The Clifty lift station receives flow from a large gravity sewer area as well as three remote lift stations outside the City limits. The lift stations pumping to the Clifty lift station are being upgraded to increase capacity in 2024, and there are potential growth areas in the Clifty lift station basin. The 8th Street lift station receives flow from the area shown in the attached figure, which has seen significant residential growth over the past 8 years. The 8th Street lift station also receives flow from Driftwood Utilities, which has a new significant industrial user. Both lift stations included in this project are regional, triplex stations and should meet CCU lift station standards. Key items to be included as part of the preliminary design are the following:
Review of level data and pump run times provided by Columbus City Utilities Review of potential growth areas in each lift station basin Recommended pump sizing Recommended electrical upgrades
After the completion of the preliminary design, construction drawings and specifications will be developed. The Scope of Services should include detailed design and contractor procurement assistance.
