CLINICAL SUPERVISION FOR DSS

To qualify as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, individuals must complete supervised clinical hours, and the City of Charlottesville’s Social Services Department requires contracted Clinical Supervisors to support its staff in meeting this requirement. These supervisors must be experienced LCSWs capable of guiding professionals in complex areas such as mental health, substance abuse, and family therapy, enabling them to effectively handle challenging client cases. A strong, trusting relationship between the supervisee and supervisor is essential due to the personal and clinical nature of the work. To ensure flexibility and avoid conflicts of interest, the City maintains multiple providers on contract, allowing staff to choose from a range of options. Importantly, no provider may supervise any employee with whom they share direct client caseloads, ensuring ethical boundaries are upheld. The solicitation, RFP 27-16, invites qualified professionals to apply for these supervision roles, with submissions due by August 18, 2026, and multiple awards may be made to meet the needs of DSS staff across Virginia.
