Commercial Bell 407 GXP Helicopters and Preservation Storage

The Naval Air Systems Command awarded Firm Fixed Price contract modification N00019-14-C-0022-P00009 to Bell Helicopter Textron, Inc. of Fort Worth, Texas, for the procurement of commercial items to support the MQ-8C Fire Scout Unmanned Aircraft System. The scope of work includes the acquisition of up to six Bell 407 GXP Helicopters, the painting of main rotor blades, and preservation and storage services for Bell 407 Analog Helicopters, with options for additional storage. This effort also encompasses the procurement of technical data, engineering analyses, and flight testing necessary for the production and certification of the MQ-8C. This acquisition was conducted on a sole-source basis under the statutory authority of Title 10, U.S.C. Section 2304(c)(1) and Federal Acquisition Regulation 6.302-1, as Bell Helicopter Textron, Inc. is the Original Equipment Manufacturer and the only responsible source capable of satisfying the agency requirements without causing significant duplication of costs or schedule delays. The procurement is covered under Class Justification and Approval number 15-24511, with the associated authority extending through September 30, 2021.
