Compound Binocular Epi-Fluorescent Microscope

The United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Engineering Research and Development Center-Construction Engineering Research Laboratory (ERDC-CERL) has a requirement to procure a Nikon brand Compound Binocular Epi-Fluorescent Microscope. The microscope must have the following: a) 4, 10, 40 and 100 x Plan-Fluor Objectives; b) 10 x eyepieces; c) 5 MP built-in camera with touchscreen controls; d) Crosshair Reticle; and e) Grid Reticle. ERDC-CERL intends to sole source this acquisition in accordance with FAR 13.106-1(b)(1) to Nikon Instruments as it is the only source that offers a compound microscope that does not require a separate computer to operate the microscope. Market research has indicated that Nikon Instruments is the only source capable of meeting the Government's requirements for this supply. This is not a request for proposal and in no way obligates the Government to award any contract. The associated North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code is 333314-Optical Instrument and Lens Manufacturing with a size standard of 500 employees. This is not a small business set aside. Any interested party that believes they can fulfill this requirement should submit a capability statement to be reviewed. All submissions will be considered, however, there is no guarantee that submissions in response to this notice will in any way alter the Government's acquisition strategy.
