Construction of a New Replacement Well for the SB Corp Well

The Goleta Water District is seeking the drilling, construction, and testing of a new replacement well to replace the inactive Santa Barbara Corporation Well in Goleta, California. The project involves drilling to a drought tolerant depth of approximately 750 feet below ground surface and reconfiguring the existing site with a new iron and manganese removal treatment facility. This facility is required to ensure that the water meets State drinking water quality standards, allowing the well to serve as a groundwater production buffer and aquifer injection well for district customers. The project is identified as GWD Project No. 24-4852 and is located near Ekwill Street and Mentor Drive. It is part of the district's 2025-2030 Infrastructure Improvement Plan and has been granted a CEQA exemption as it involves the replacement of an existing facility with negligible expansion in capacity. Administrative oversight for the project is managed by the Engineering and Infrastructure Manager, with technical coordination provided by the Senior Design Engineer.
