The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) announced a procurement program for frozen consumer pack cut-up chickens intended for domestic food nutrition assistance programs. The USDA plans to purchase U.S. Grade A, 8-piece cut-up frozen chickens with options for inclusion or exclusion of neck and giblets. These chickens must come from ready-to-cook broiler/fryer birds weighing between 2.5 to 3.75 pounds each and be packaged in tray pack-style containers, with 12 packages packed per fiberboard shipping container. The contract will purchase in units of 1,000 cases. Offers are due electronically through the Domestic Electronic Bid Entry System (DEBES) by May 18, 2009, with acceptances announced by May 22. Deliveries are scheduled between July 1 and September 30. This year's program incorporates important updates, including stricter food defense measures requiring written responses to audit non-conformances within 14 days and an updated auditing timeline starting March 1, 2009. Prospective bidders must also provide annual financial updates to Dun & Bradstreet as part of the qualification requirements. While most provisions remain consistent with the prior year's program, offerors are advised to carefully review the updated Master Solicitation, Qualification Requirements, Commodity Specifications, and Invitation documents. Inquiries can be directed to designated USDA personnel, with the USDA maintaining nondiscrimination policies and commitments to accessibility. This procurement falls under NAICS code 311615 and is managed by USDA AMS Poultry Programs.
