Continuation of services for Subject Matter Expert I (Shenita-Ann Grymes)

The contract supports the continuation of services for a Subject Matter Expert I to assist the District of Columbia’s Early Hearing Detection and Intervention program by ensuring newborns receive timely hearing screenings, diagnoses, and enrollment in early intervention services. The contractor will conduct follow-ups with families and healthcare providers to verify that infants are meeting critical milestones—screening by one month, diagnosis by three months, and intervention enrollment by six months—and will provide extended support to families of newborns identified as deaf or hard of hearing or with other newborn screening-related concerns. This includes guiding families through the next steps of care, offering resources, and maintaining consistent communication to reduce gaps in service delivery. The contractor will also manage and update the DC EHDI program’s tracking system, which monitors the entire pathway of newborn hearing screenings, including birth hospital records, outpatient tests, diagnostic evaluations, and follow-up outcomes. This role requires diligent data entry, oversight of system accuracy, and collaboration with the DC EHDI team to ensure all infants born in the District are properly tracked and no child falls through the cracks. The work is centered on improving health outcomes and equity in early childhood hearing care, with a focus on family engagement, system efficiency, and compliance with statewide EHDI benchmarks.
