Contractor Prequalification for Construction: High Mast Lighting Assembly Replacement at the Peace Bridge, Fort Erie, ON

The Buffalo and Fort Erie Public Bridge Authority is seeking prequalified primary contractors for the replacement of eight high mast lighting assemblies on the Canadian plaza of the Peace Bridge in Fort Erie. This prequalification process is a mandatory prerequisite for firms wishing to participate in the subsequent bidding process, which is anticipated to occur in fall 2026, with construction slated for completion by spring 2027. To be eligible, applicants must demonstrate documented experience in installing or retrofitting high mast lighting systems and provide evidence of electrical work valued at over 500,000 dollars performed within the last five years for the Buffalo and Fort Erie Public Bridge Authority, the Niagara Falls Bridge Commission, or the Ontario Ministry of Transportation. All on-site electricians must be certified as Canadian Construction and Maintenance Electricians (309a). Interested firms must submit a completed Contractor Qualification Statement by October 6, 2026, along with supporting documentation including a statement of bonding capacity on company letterhead, a worker's compensation Experience Rating Modifier for safety records, and certificates of insurance for general liability, workers compensation, auto liability, and umbrella coverage. The Authority will evaluate candidates based on their technical skill, financial resources, integrity, and professional experience. Applicants must also disclose their business type, licensing status in New York and/or Ontario, and any history of bankruptcy, legal proceedings, or regulatory citations from New York State, the Province of Ontario, or federal OSHA within the last three years.
