County Road 66B over Colusa Drain Bridge Replacement Project

Glenn County is planning to replace the existing bridge on County Road 66B over Colusa Drain with a new single-span, precast prestressed concrete voided slab structure designed to meet current roadway width and safety standards, including approved bridge and approach guardrails. The project will include rock slope protection, which will cause permanent impacts to Colusa Drain and temporary disruptions for construction access. Three of the four corners of the existing bridge serve as critical access points for local residents and heavy agricultural vehicles, including loaded double semi-trailer trucks. The proposed access road alignments are engineered to allow safe truck turning movements only away from the bridge, as turning toward the bridge would require encroaching on adjacent farmland, leading to the loss of productive agricultural land. This design choice minimizes both environmental and right-of-way impacts, though it will still result in permanent damage to nearby wetlands and temporary disturbance during construction.
