The Connecticut Innovation Advisory Council is currently accepting Phase I applications for the third cycle of the Innovative Energy Solutions (IES) Program, which focuses on developing "Smart Energy Communities." These communities aim to enhance local energy infrastructure and end-use systems to improve residents' quality of life while demonstrating innovative, replicable solutions that address common challenges. The program encourages participation from both Connecticut-based and out-of-state innovators who plan to establish or already have a license to operate within Connecticut, provided they meet specific eligibility criteria such as avoiding undue ratepayer impacts, supporting decarbonization goals, and addressing underserved communities. There is no cap on the number of projects submitted, and each will be evaluated based on eligibility and project selection criteria. Applicants are required to submit their proposals via the designated E-Bid form, with an MS Word version available for reference. The program offers informational sessions, either live or recorded, to assist prospective applicants in understanding the process. The solicitation, posted on January 1, 2025, has a deadline for responses set for March 1, 2025. Funding for projects ranges from $500,000 to $2,000,000, and the program is managed by the Connecticut IES Program under the state's Department of Connecticut. The initiative emphasizes innovative approaches that fill gaps in current energy offerings and promote equitable access to modernized energy solutions across communities.
