The contract entails the implementation and ongoing maintenance of NIST SP 800-171 security controls to safeguard Controlled Unclassified Information within the Department of Defense environment. This includes establishing, validating, and sustaining technical and procedural safeguards mandated by the standard to ensure CUI remains protected against unauthorized access, disclosure, or modification. The scope encompasses continuous monitoring, system hardening, access control enforcement, audit logging, and data integrity measures aligned with federal cybersecurity requirements. Additionally, the contract requires robust incident response capabilities to detect, contain, investigate, and recover from cybersecurity events affecting CUI systems. Media preservation protocols must be in place to retain forensic evidence and system artifacts during and after incidents, ensuring compliance with investigative and regulatory obligations.
