Cybersecurity Compliance and Incident Response

This contract requires full implementation of NIST SP 800-171 cybersecurity safeguards to protect controlled unclassified information within the contractor’s systems and those of any downstream subcontractors. All subcontractors must be contractually obligated to adhere to the same security requirements, ensuring a consistent and compliant security posture across the supply chain. The contractor is responsible for establishing and maintaining the necessary policies, procedures, and technical controls to meet NIST standards and must conduct regular assessments to validate compliance. In addition to safeguard implementation, the contractor must establish a robust cyber incident reporting process through the Defense Industrial Base Cybersecurity and Information Analysis Center via DIBNet. Any cyber incident affecting covered defense information or systems must be reported promptly in accordance with federal guidelines. The contractor is accountable for identifying, containing, and reporting incidents in real time, as well as providing all required documentation and supporting evidence to federal authorities. Compliance with these obligations is mandatory and non-negotiable, with failure to meet requirements potentially resulting in contract default or loss of eligibility to perform future defense work.
