The Office of Federal Procurement Policy (OFPP) launched a study on October 4, 2006, to review the use of commercially available online procurement services (OPS), specifically focusing on reverse auctions. This invitation seeks participation from contractors who have either engaged in reverse auctions or have opted out but are interested in providing feedback to improve the process. Firms interested in contributing are required to complete a vendor survey accessible online, using a unique DUNS number to ensure one response per company. The survey, designed to take about 10 minutes, should be completed by the most knowledgeable representative within the firm and will be available from December 10 to December 21, 2007. Participation in the survey is voluntary and anonymous, with no procurement contracts resulting from the effort, nor any cost or liability assumed by the government. The data collected will be analyzed, and an initial draft of the findings will be shared for public comment. The initiative is managed under the NAICS code 518210 and is facilitated by a Senior Procurement Policy Analyst, who can be contacted for further information. This effort aims to gather constructive insights to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of reverse auction practices within federal procurement.

Invitation to participate in the Online Procurement Services study on reverse auctions. On October 4, 2006 the Office of Federal Procurement Policy (OFPP) initiated a review of the use of commercially available online procurement services (OPS), including reverse auctions. This notice is an invitation to any and all contractors that have participated in reverse auctions; or have chosen not to participate, but are interested in improving the process. The following link will take you to the participating vender survey. In this case the term users includes firms that may not have participated in a reverse auction, but are interested in providing constructive feedback regarding their use. http://www.dau.mil/performance_support/mdcsurvey/vendor/vendor.htm Instructions: To register to complete the survey you will need to provide a single DUNS number specific to your firm. Also, please assign your most knowledgeable company representative to complete the survey since we will select only one response per DUNS number. The OPS working group tested the survey and believe it should take no more than 10 minutes for each company to complete. Your participation in this study is strictly voluntary and anonymous. This survey is only a request for information and the government does not plan to issue procurements from this effort. Further, the government does not in any way bear any cost or liability associated with your firm's participation. The survey will be available from Monday, December 10, 2007, beginning at 9:00 am through Friday, December 21, 2007, closing at 5:00 pm. After the data have been analyzed we will provide the initial draft for public comment. Thank you for support of this effort.
