Demolition of Structure at 512 N. Broadway

The City of Aurora, Illinois, has issued Invitation for Bid 26-078 for the demolition and removal of a approximately 6,500 square foot single-story wood and light-gauge metal frame structure with a metal roof and slab-on-grade foundation located at 512 N. Broadway. The scope of work includes the removal of the structure and footing walls to one foot below existing grade, backfilling with IDOT CA-7, and the disconnection and plugging of existing water and sanitary sewer services. An optional bid alternate is included for the removal and disposal of over 8,500 square feet of concrete pavement from the site. While electrical and gas services have already been removed, and testing confirmed that no asbestos or lead paint abatement is required, the contractor remains responsible for the proper disposal of all demolished materials and must follow IDPH and EPA guidelines should any suspect materials be discovered. The contract will be awarded to the lowest responsive and responsible bidder, with evaluations based on price, experience, financial responsibility, and the ability to complete the work within required timeframes. Bids must be submitted electronically via OpenGov by October 14, 2026, and must include a bid deposit of at least 10 percent of the total bid amount. The successful contractor will be required to provide a Performance and Payment Bond for 100 percent of the contract sum and a compliant Certificate of Insurance. Performance is subject to final inspection and acceptance by city officials within 30 days of completion.
