The General Services Administration (GSA) Region 4 plans to issue a design-build contract for the repair and improvement of stormwater drainage and moisture protection systems at the pedestrian and service tunnels in the Atlanta Federal Center in Atlanta, Georgia. This project involves extensive work on the building envelope surrounding these tunnels, including concrete floor slabs, roof decks, and foundation walls. Key components include repairing and enhancing the rainwater drainage systems and waterproofing membranes located in roof assemblies and foundation walls, while managing the infrastructure such as cast iron, ductile iron, and PVC pipes. The roof above the tunnels, which doubles as part of the main plaza with paver surfaces, will also be addressed for moisture protection. Executing this work will require partial closures and demolition of Forsyth Street and adjacent sidewalks to gain access to the tunnels, necessitating the rerouting of both vehicular and pedestrian traffic. The procurement is an unrestricted design-build opportunity expected to be formally announced around May 9, 2016. Interested parties are informed that this notice is a pre-solicitation announcement and not a request for proposal, with no response required at this time. The primary point of contact for this contract is Contract Specialist Leslie Smalls.
