Task Order GD139ROC8AMOD42 is a sole source modification awarded to Centuria Corporation under the Mission Support Information Technology Services contract to address critical failures in the NEXRAD WSR-88D Un-interruptible Power Supply subsystem at Dyess AFB, Texas. The project focuses on the repair and restoration of the backup diesel generator and its encasement, which are essential for maintaining high radar availability during severe weather outbreaks. Due to a major mechanical failure and issues with the system encasement, the backup power system is currently non-operational. Centuria will subcontract the specialized field service work to Fibrebond, the original equipment manufacturer, to perform the encasement repairs and install a proprietary fuel containment system. This sole source approach is justified because Fibrebond is the only provider capable of performing these specific technical requirements. The total estimated value for the acquisition is 37,282.21 dollars, with the sole source portion valued at 9,725.00 dollars. The contract is managed by the General Services Administration under NAICS code 541330.

Task Order GD139ROC8A was solicited competitively and subsequently awarded to Centuria. All services and material support requirements are therefore awarded to Centuria by modification to the awarded task order and subcontracting is sometimes necessary. This justification is to issue a sole source task order to Centuria Corporation for other than fair opportunity for issuance of a modification against task order GD139ROC8A/Mission Support Information Technology Information Technology Services (MSITS) (Work Area 6) to Centuria. The existing NEXRAD WSR-88D Un-interruptible Power Supply (UPS) subsystem at Dyess AFB TX provides backup generator power in the event of a power outage. This is a critical component of the NEXRAD weather radar system that ensures the radar is capable of achieving and maintaining very high rates of availability especially during severe weather outbreaks. This system is currently not operational due to a major mechanical failure of the diesel generator and issues with the system encasement. Centuria will subcontract with to perform the required field service work to the NEXRAD WSR-88D UPS subsystem at Dyess AFB TX.
