The SUNY DSP Microcredential Program, developed in collaboration with OPWDD, aims to enhance the skills of direct support professionals (DSPs) by enabling them to earn national certifications through NADSP while simultaneously earning college credits toward various degree levels. This initiative seeks to promote more intentional, person-centered support practices among DSPs across all counties in New York State. The program is supported through a contract with the National Alliance for Direct Support Professionals (NADSP), which provides access to the E-Badge Academy platform for participating students. To sustain the program, additional licenses for the E-Badge Academy are required, and the contract has been designated as a single-source award, given NADSP's unique role in providing these services. The contract, valued between $50,000 and $200,000, is set for a four-year term, ending on December 23, 2024. It covers all counties within New York State and is managed by the NYS Office for People with Developmental Disabilities. The procurement process was conducted as a solicitation, with the notice posted on December 16, 2024, and responses due by December 23, 2024. This arrangement ensures ongoing access to essential digital badge licenses, supporting the state's efforts to improve workforce development and person-centered care in developmental disability services.
