The Department of Civil Service is extending its existing contract with CVS Caremark to continue providing Pharmacy Benefit Services for The Empire Plan and the Student Employee Health Plan. This extension ensures uninterrupted access to pharmacy services for enrollees and their dependents across all New York State counties. The current contract, which is set to expire on December 31, 2024, will be extended for one year or until the completion of the five-year procurement process initiated through a Request for Proposal issued on May 1, 2024, whichever occurs first. The extension is granted as a single-source award, with CVS Caremark designated as the sole provider under an exemption from competitive advertising, based on the award being a single-source recipient. This procurement process is part of a broader effort to secure pharmacy benefit services for multiple state health programs, with the contract valued between 50 million and 150 million dollars. The extension's purpose is to maintain service continuity while the new five-year agreement is finalized and approved under the State Finance Law. The notice indicates that questions regarding this sole-source award should be directed to the appropriate contact within the agency. The contract's posting date is December 13, 2024, with a response deadline of December 20, 2024.
