Economic Statistics Centre of Excellence 2027-2030 – invite only

The Economic Statistics Centre of Excellence (ESCoE) 2027-2030 is an invite-only funding opportunity issued by the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) under UK Research and Innovation. The program is designed to support high-quality research focused on improving economic measurement and enhancing the production of key statistics. Specifically, the scope of work involves modernizing economic data collection, processing, and analysis, while supporting the Office for National Statistics (ONS) in shaping global economic measurement standards through collaboration with domestic and international researchers and statistical agencies. The solicitation was posted on September 17, 2026, with a response deadline of November 5, 2026. Evaluation of proposals is conducted by a commissioning panel that assigns final scores based on published criteria. A significant emphasis is placed on Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI), with applicants required to demonstrate how these principles are embedded in their work. The assessment process utilizes a career stage equivalence criterion to ensure fair evaluation of experience, and track record is not assessed as a standalone criterion. Administrative support for the program includes the use of specific research facilities, such as the ADR UK Secure Research Service and the British Election Study.
