The Idaho Military Division has submitted a request to the Department of Purchasing (DOP) for an exemption from the competitive bidding process to acquire proper protective equipment for Air Force firefighters. If granted, this exemption would enable the agency to procure the equipment with limited or no competition, a decision that ultimately rests with the DOP Administrator's discretion. To ensure transparency, the DOP is inviting suppliers to review the exemption request and submit relevant information that could support or challenge the claim that conducting a competitive process would be impractical, unreasonable, or disadvantageous to the state. Suppliers are encouraged to provide their input by attaching documentation through the designated IPRO system or via email before the response deadline of September 18, 2024. The contract, titled "EFC Air Force Firefighter proper protective equipment," is a solicitation posted on September 13, 2024, with a value estimated between $500,000 and $1,500,000.
