Elevator Renovation - UT Austin Bureau of Economic Geology (BEG)

The University of Texas at Austin is soliciting proposals for the renovation of a hydraulic passenger elevator at the BEG Lab Building (BE1). The scope of work includes replacing the elevator control and drive systems, control and operation switches, and wiring, as well as installing a new hydraulic jack and power unit. Additionally, the project requires replacing the door operator and hall door hangers with new style hangers featuring safety retainers, while retaining the existing elevator cab shell, platform, and sling. Construction is scheduled to begin on May 10, 2027, and must be completed by August 16, 2027, with a strict 14-week completion window once the elevator is taken out of service. Contractors must be qualified by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation and employ personnel trained through a U.S. Department of Labor approved program. The university will award the contract based on best value criteria, requiring respondents to provide fixed pricing and demonstrate their team's qualifications. Payment is governed by the Texas Prompt Payment Act with net 30 terms, utilizing the JP Morgan Chase Single Use Account program as the preferred method. Proposals must be submitted electronically via the University Euna portal by December 11, 2026, and must include a signed cover letter, execution of offer, addenda acknowledgement, and a subcontracting plan.
