Ending HIV and TB as public health threats through an accelerated and sustained comprehensive response in India

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Global Health Center is issuing Notice of Funding Opportunity CDC-RFA-JG-26-0142 to establish cooperative agreements aimed at eradicating HIV and TB as public health threats in India. This initiative supports the National AIDS Control Organization (NACO), the Central Tuberculosis Division (CTD), and the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) to enhance epidemic control in alignment with the National AIDS Control Program (NACP)-VI and the National TB Elimination Program (NTEP). The program focuses on transitioning essential services to local ownership through innovative strategies for infection prevention, early case detection, treatment adherence, and viral suppression. Key activities include scaling up antiretroviral therapy to prevent mother-to-child transmission, providing integrated HIV and TB services, and strengthening local leadership and program cooperation. The CDC anticipates awarding one to two projects for a five-year period of performance, with an expected start date of January 1, 2027. Total funding for the first year is approximately 6,000,000 USD, with subsequent years subject to the availability of funds and satisfactory progress. Eligible applicants include small businesses, for-profit organizations, private institutions of higher education, and foreign entities. Local organizations must provide documentation of active Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA) registration. Applications are due by September 16, 2026, via Grants.gov and must include a project abstract, budget narrative, experience statement, and financial capability statement. Evaluation will be based on a merit review process, with a specific focus on the feasibility and innovation of case finding and linkage to care.
