The Cedar Rapids Community School District is soliciting bids for Engineering & Manufacturing Equipment through its online bidding portal, IonWave, with a submission deadline of 11:00 a.m. CST on July 1, 2026. A bid tabulation summary will be distributed to all respondents after award, and results will not be disclosed by phone or prior to official notification. The contract is governed by provisions requiring the contractor to be responsible and responsive, with award going to the lowest base bid excluding alternates, allowances, or unit prices. Bidders must provide at least three references, demonstrate relevant experience, and submit a completed Bidder Status Form per Iowa Administrative Code Chapter 156. Failure to submit this form renders the bid non-responsive. Non-Iowa corporations must provide proof of authorization to operate in Iowa before contract execution. The contractor is prohibited from assigning or transferring the contract without written consent from the Owner and Surety. All royalties, patent claims, and infringement costs are included in the bid price, and the contractor must defend the District at its own expense. The work must comply with the Williams-Steiger Occupational Safety and Health Act and Iowa Senate File 1218, and all safety and accessibility standards including ADA requirements. The contractor must maintain insurance covering contractual liability and all enumerated hazards on an occurrence basis, and must furnish a bid bond equal to ten percent of the bid amount, along with performance and payment bonds from a surety licensed in Iowa and signed by an Iowa-resident agent. The contractor must provide a competent superintendent, maintain sanitary facilities, secure the site with fencing or surveillance, and maintain emergency contact availability on evenings, weekends, and holidays.
