The Enterprise Sourcing Group (ESG) at Wright Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio, is responsible for managing and executing strategic sourcing efforts for 71 Air Force bases within the continental United States. To support its mission and foster collaboration with industry partners, ESG organized a two-day event titled "Enterprise Sourcing Group (ESG) Dialogue with Industry," held on October 25-26, 2011, at The Hope Hotel and Conference Center in Dayton, Ohio. The event aimed to inform current and prospective suppliers about the increasing significance of strategic sourcing within the U.S. Air Force and Department of Defense, present ongoing and upcoming sourcing opportunities, and facilitate networking among contractors. It also highlighted the role of small businesses in these efforts and encouraged industry input on sourcing strategies and cost-saving measures. The event’s agenda included briefings on organizational structure and commodity councils on the first day, followed by meetings between industry representatives and Air Force sourcing managers on the second day. ESG’s strategic sourcing initiatives span a broad range of products and services, including civil engineering, force protection, IT, medical services, furnishings, office supplies, fitness equipment, shipping, and advisory services. In addition to strategic sourcing, ESG oversees enterprise-wide operational contracting for several Air Force agencies related to engineering, civil support, defense information, and medical operations. Co-sponsored by the Dayton Area Defense Contractors Association, the event was intended solely for informational and planning purposes and was not tied to a specific solicitation or government commitment. For further information, contacts were provided, with an emphasis on collaboration and awareness rather than formal procurement activities.
