Environmental Assessment No. PW01011: Shaw Avenue Roadway Improvements from Fruit Avenue to 950 Feet East of Palm Avenue

The City of Fresno Capital Projects Department is implementing the Shaw Avenue Roadway Improvements project, identified as Environmental Assessment No. PW01011. The project focuses on the rehabilitation of a 0.7-mile segment of Shaw Avenue between Fruit Avenue and 950 feet east of Palm Avenue in Fresno, California. The scope of work includes grind and overlay activities, full-depth reconstruction of failing pavement, the installation of curbs and gutters, median nose adjustments, and the application of new signage and striping. Additionally, the project requires the reconstruction of non-ADA compliant curb ramps to ensure accessibility. The project will involve the partial acquisition of right-of-way from parcel APN 417-291-19, though no existing buildings or structures will be removed. Construction is scheduled to take place over a four-month period from August 2026 to December 2026. The work is expected to result in approximately 7.83 acres of ground disturbance with a maximum excavation depth of one foot. This project will not increase roadway capacity or the number of travel lanes. Under the California Environmental Quality Act, the project has been granted a Categorical Exemption under Section 15301/Class 1, as it involves minor alterations to existing facilities with no significant environmental impacts. Project management is led by Isaac Campos of the Department of Capital Projects.
