The University of California, Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory is conducting market research to identify potential sources that possess the expertise, capabilities, and experience necessary to provide engineering design input, fabrication, and delivery of an acrylic vessel for the Eos detector project. The goal of the Eos project is to construct a few-ton scale detector to demonstrate the impact of novel technology on detection of MeV-scale particle interactions. This prototype has the potential to influence the design of future detectors for both fundamental physics and nonproliferation applications. The detector will consist of an acrylic vessel to house a novel liquid scintillating medium, surrounded by a number of photomultiplier tubes. Optical clarity and mechanical integrity of the acrylic vessel are both critical for this application. Please see the attached Request for Information and preliminary specifications for details and instructions.

Large Format Wire Electrical Discharge Machining (EDM) System
Solicitation # KT-2026-03
The Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL) is conducting market research via solicitation KT-2026-03 to identify qualified sources for a Large Format Wire Electrical Discharge Machining (EDM) System. This system will support the Engineering Division in providing high-precision, non-contact machining for complex scientific components, including accelerator structures, detector chassis, and superconducting magnet components. Preliminary technical requirements specify nominal travel targets of approximately 800 mm X, 600 mm Y, and 800 mm Z. The system must adhere to U.S. safety standards, specifically NFPA 79 and UL 508A, with certification from an OSHA-recognized Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory such as UL, CSA, TÜV, or ETL. This effort is currently a Request for Information (RFI) and not a formal solicitation for proposals; therefore, no subcontracts will be awarded from this specific notice. The primary objective is to establish a list of qualified sources for a future Request for Quotes (RFQ) phase. Interested respondents must submit a completed response form by November 18, 2026, detailing their company information, system capabilities, and lead times. Additionally, LBNL requires the provider to have a West Coast field service organization to support the equipment in Berkeley, California. Respondents must certify their small business status under NAICS 333517 and ensure that no export-controlled or security-sensitive data is included in their submission.

UPDATED ALS SHB pulsed RF HPA
Solicitation # AM202603-25
Solicitation AM202603-25, issued by the University of California Managing and Operating Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, seeks proposals for the design, manufacture, and delivery of two 25 kW pulsed Radio Frequency High Power Amplifier (HPA) units for the Advanced Light Source RF Amplifier Replacement Project. The procurement requires one unit operating at approximately 125 MHz and a second at 500 MHz, utilizing modern solid-state LDMOS or GaN FET technology to replace existing tube-based systems. The estimated performance term is 12 months, covering the full product life cycle from preliminary design and NRTL safety certification to installation and site acceptance testing. Proposals are due by November 18, 2026, and will be evaluated based on best overall value, considering technical approach, delivery schedule, quality assurance, past performance, and total price. Awardees must adhere to stringent LBNL safety and build standards, including electrical safety programs, seismic design criteria, and specific packaging and marking requirements. Submissions must include a technical volume, a business volume with a detailed price proposal, and completed representation and certification forms. LBNL has indicated a preference for off-the-shelf systems that meet requirements and will accept closed-loop liquid-cooled solid-state power amplifier bids.

Fabricated Components for the SR Embedded Floor Plates for the ALS-U Project
Solicitation # AA-2027-02
The University of California, on behalf of the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, is soliciting proposals under RFP AA-2027-02 for the fabrication and delivery of 96 embedded floor plates for the Advanced Light Source Upgrade (ALS-U) project. This acquisition is a total small business set-aside under NAICS code 332999. The scope of work involves producing various plate types to serve as structural interfaces and leveling surfaces, with delivery dates scheduled between January and July 2027. The project requires strict adherence to technical specifications, including the use of CMM or equivalent calibrated devices for measurement and compliance with specific part marking and packaging standards to ensure traceability and prevent damage. Proposals are due by November 11, 2026, and must be submitted in three separate volumes: a cover letter, a technical volume, and a business volume. The technical volume must include a supplier quality evaluation survey and past performance references from the last five years. The business volume requires a completed price proposal schedule, representations and certifications, and acceptance of the sample subcontract terms. Award will be granted to the responsive, responsible offeror that is determined to be technically acceptable and offers the lowest evaluated price. Key regulatory requirements include the Buy American Act and prohibitions on certain telecommunications equipment.
