The SFY 2027 Massachusetts Municipal Public Safety Staffing Program is a competitive grant initiative administered by the Executive Office of Public Safety and Security through the Office of Grants and Research. The program provides approximately 6.72 million dollars to eligible municipalities to address staffing shortfalls within police and fire departments. The period of performance runs from January 1, 2027, to December 31, 2027, with no extensions permitted. Applicants must submit a digitally signed online application by October 23, 2026, including a detailed 12-month budget in Excel format. Awarded funds are typically distributed in two equal disbursements. To qualify, applicants must provide a comprehensive narrative justifying the need for funds, including incident data, response times, and the impact of staff reductions on community risk.
