The FHWA Exploratory Advanced Research (EAR) program focuses on longer-term and higher-risk breakthrough research with the potential for transformational improvements to plan, build, renew, and operate safe, congestion free, and environmentally sound transportation systems. With the increased use of digital assets across highway transportation research, the EAR program anticipates one or two, multi-year awards to increase the pipeline of people with knowledge across data science and highway transportation research disciplines.
