The New York State Department of Health has secured approval from the State Comptroller's Office for a contract extension with Preferred Therapy Solutions LLC, allowing them to continue providing rehabilitative services to residents at the Veterans' Home in Montrose, Westchester County. This extension is retroactive to January 31, 2024, and will remain in effect until September 30, 2026. The contract was initially awarded as a single-source award, meaning it was exempt from public advertising due to Preferred Therapy Solutions being the sole provider qualified for these services, and it is set to expire on September 30, 2026, with a new Request for Proposals scheduled to be issued for services starting October 1, 2026. The contract value is estimated to be between five and ten million dollars, reflecting the scope and importance of the rehabilitative services provided. The approval of this exemption underscores the necessity of continuing services without interruption, especially given the ongoing preparations for a competitive bidding process. The contract's extension ensures that the residents' medical needs are met seamlessly while the Department of Health transitions to a formal procurement process. The primary point of contact for related inquiries is Matthew Schultz, Director of Veterans Home Financial Administration, reachable via email or phone. This arrangement highlights the importance of maintaining consistent care for veterans and the strategic use of sole-source contracting to ensure service continuity in critical healthcare settings.
