The Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) has a requirement for FA-18C+ upgrades to support future digital mapping computer efforts. To prevent obsolescence issues and maintain adequate support and performance capability, NAVAIR intends to negotiate the effort as a sole source firm-fixed price (FFP) contract with Harris Corporation, Palm Bay, FL. Award of the life of type buy (LoTB) will be made with authority under FAR 6.302-1, only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements. As the prime contractor of the digital map computer, Harris Corporation has the engineering data, technical skills, and requisite knowledge of the design, fabrication, performance, operation, maintenance and support characteristics of the aircraft to fulfill this requirement within the time required.
