The contract involves the procurement of aerial chemical herbicide application services by the Mission & Installation Contracting Command at Fort Drum to restore line-of-sight on various live fire ranges and the Main Impact Area. This operation will cover approximately 2,192 acres of degraded live fire ranges and impact zones primarily to control woody vegetation that obstructs visibility to targets. Due to safety concerns arising from unexploded ordnance, much of the area is off-limits to personnel, necessitating the use of aerial application methods. Additionally, all aerial treatment units must be marked with a non-toxic paint before the herbicide application to prevent accidental spraying on environmentally sensitive areas, with the only recognized marking technology being TimberMark, a proprietary system owned by Crop Production Services, Timberland Division. This procurement will be conducted on a sole source basis to Crop Production Services, reflecting their exclusive capability in providing both the aerial herbicide application and the specialized aerial paint marking. Interested parties are invited to express their interest and capabilities in responding to similar future requirements by submitting their qualifications to the designated point of contact by August 21, 2012. The contract is associated with NAICS code 115112 and managed by the Department of Defense’s office at Fort Drum, New York, with Contract Specialist Kelli Rinard as the primary contact for this procurement opportunity. The government emphasizes that any information received during this expression of interest process will be for informational purposes only and will not entail any compensation.
