F -- Fall Viewing of Proposed Projects

FALL VIEWING OF PROPOSED PROJECTS FOR FISCAL YEAR 2005 Due to anticipated snow conditions at the time of issue for these proposed service and construction contracts, this Fall (2004), may be the only time that bidders/offerors will have the opportunity to see the project sites. There will be no scheduled showing trips nor will Forest Service employees accompany prospective bidders to the project sites. However, bidders/offerors are reminded that it is their responsibility to determine for themselves the actual site conditions. Only by physical inspection on-the-ground viewing can bidders/offerors assure themselves of the existing conditions. Maps will be available at the Paulina District Office for the Service Contract. No snowplowing will occur to provide access to the proposed sites. Due to the uncertainty of snowfall, it is recommended that project sites be viewed as early as possible in October. The following is a listing of prospective projects for Fiscal Year 2005: **Paulina Ranger District, Service Project consisting of Precommercial Thinning Handpiling. Approximate Size 1350 Acres; Date Area Normally Closed is October 31, 2004; Name and Phone Number of Contact person is Renee Roufs, 541/477-6921. ** Paulina Precommercial Thinning and Handpiling: From September 9th to November 28th, the Paulina Ranger District is under a road closure program that restricts motorized travel to roads posted with a green dot. Permits will be made available to prospective bidders to access closed roads during the closure period. Prospective bidders are encouraged to call Renee Roufs (541-477-6921) prior to stopping at the Paulina Ranger District Office to make arrangements for a permit. A map of proposed units will be available when the permit is issued. In a typical Fall, snow would restrict travel in the Deep thinning units by October 31st.
