Fairmont Energy Savings Performance Project

The Fairmont Energy Savings Performance Project, managed by the Alameda County General Services Agency, is a comprehensive energy infrastructure initiative located in San Leandro, California. The project scope includes the replacement and installation of HVAC, lighting, and associated controls, as well as emergency generators. A primary focus of the effort is the deployment of solar power and advanced energy storage systems across three specific sites: the Juvenile Justice Center, which will receive 850 kW of solar and 350 kW of energy storage; and both the Las Vistas Buildings and Camp Sweeney, each receiving 250 kW of solar and 150 kW of energy storage. Additionally, the project includes the installation of conduit for future electric vehicle charging stations. All installations are required to be situated within existing parking lots or on existing roofs to ensure no increase in total square footage. The overarching goal of the project is to reduce the county's dependence on fossil fuels, lower greenhouse gas emissions, and establish resiliency centers. The project is classified as statutorily or categorically exempt under the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and Public Resource Code 21080.35, specifically falling under Class 1, 3, and 4 exemptions for existing facilities, small equipment construction, and minor land alterations.
