Fiscal Year 2027 Expanding Nutrition Services

The Fiscal Year 2027 Expanding Nutrition Services (ENS) program, administered by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) Bureau of Primary Health Care, provides funding to HRSA-funded health centers to increase access to nutrition services. Part of the Make America Healthy Again (MAHA) initiative, the program aims to combat the chronic disease epidemic by supporting interventions that prevent, manage, and treat chronic conditions. A total of 125 million dollars is available for approximately 357 grants, with individual awards capped at 350,000 dollars. The two-year period of performance runs from December 1, 2026, to November 30, 2028. Key objectives include increasing the volume of patients receiving nutrition services, coordinating care for those with inconsistent food access, advancing workforce skills, and linking patients to community partners such as food banks and mobile markets. Evaluation is based on a multi-stage process including an initial review, a risk review of past performance and management systems, and a weighted merit review focusing on need, response, capacity, impact, collaboration, and the support requested. Funding is subject to alignment with HRSA strategic priorities and may be awarded in whole or in part. Required documentation includes the H80 Grant Number Form, Funding Request Summary, and specific property and environmental checklists for any associated minor alteration or renovation projects. Recipients must comply with 2 CFR Part 200, maintain an active SAM.gov registration, and adhere to NIST cybersecurity frameworks and ONC Health IT certification standards where applicable.
