The Fix 5 Cascade Gateway Project will construct and/or extend auxiliary lanes between interchanges, widen bridges with rail upgrades, install a median barrier, install signage, upgrade drainage facilities, install or upgrade intelligent transportation system (ITS) and transportation management system (TMS) elements, paving, install a vehicle charging facility, and construct a managed lane for part-time truck only operation in the northbound and southbound directions through a combination of constructing new lanes and converting existing multi-use lanes. The Cascade SHOPP Project will improve pavement quality, reduce maintenance efforts, minimize field maintenance exposure to traffic, upgrade bridge rails and install in-fill walls, upgrade drainage facilities, install ITS/TMS elements, increase vertical clearance at two structures, install a median barrier, and upgrade signs and lighting.
