This contract specifies the procurement of 500 units of indoor flagpoles, each measuring 7 feet in length and constructed in two sections with brass polished, lacquered base and ferrule components. The flagpoles are made from select hardwoods such as ash, beech, birch, elm, locust, maple, oak, or pecan, with stringent requirements for wood quality, grain orientation, and moisture content. The poles are turned, sanded smooth, and finished with a dark oak stain and a clear, smooth spun gloss finish that enhances the natural wood grain. Each pole section is joined by a seamless brass tube screw joint with precision dimensions, and the hardware—including the ferrule, screw ring, knobs, and buttons—is crafted from brass alloys and finished to a mirror-like, gold-tinted lacquered appearance matching specified color standards. The assembled pole is 84 inches long with detailed tolerances for each component, including the placement of mounting screws and attachment hardware to ensure durability and aesthetic consistency. The contract requires a first article sample, adheres to the DLA packaging and quality standards, and specifies destination inspection and acceptance points. Pricing is firm fixed with zero variance allowed, and delivery is expected within 120 days after order placement. The contract includes provisions for specialized manufacturing processes such as casting and forging, and references relevant military specifications for packaging and marking. The contract is awarded to Arizona Industries for the Blind in Phoenix, AZ, under Department of Defense oversight, with ongoing support and contacts provided through the designated contracting officer.
