The product is classified as a Type I (Code Q) item with a non-extendable shelf life of 36 months and must be packaged in sealed unit containers that protect against damage or breakage, with exterior shipping containers ensuring safe, cost-effective delivery to the destination point. All packaging and marking must conform to the latest edition of Medical Marking Standard No. 1, superseding MIL-STD-129, and include mandatory labeling with NSN, manufacturer, CAGE code, date of manufacture, expiration or retest date, contract number, and lot number. The item is regulated by the FDA and requires pre-award submission of Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and Hazard Communication Standard (HCS) labels compliant with 29 C.F.R. 1910.1200, along with employee training on these requirements.
